Crème Fraiche

Crème Fraiche

Tasting Notes

Look: Thick white, sometimes ivory cream colour, whipped and creamy folds

Touch: Wet and rich and velvety texture

Smell: Butterfat, sour cream and slight nuttiness

Taste: A mixture of sweet, slightly sour and tangy cream.

It is similar to whipped cream but not as sugary and not as acidic as sour cream. It is decadent and rich.

Lovers

Food: Fresh strawberries, plums, pears and a sprinkle of raw sugar or dribble on top of crepes and pancakes or add to a bowl of homemade granola… anything goes for Crème Fraiche.

Beverage: Champagne (Blanc de Blancs) or coffee.

Céleste Crème Fraiche

The Woman
Crème Fraiche vibrates at a high viscosity. Her French roots are visible in her refined features, willowy grace with rich and velvety texture.

Crème Fraiche is not a cheese – but – she is delicious and a powerful addition to any cheese breakfast plate.

The Cheese
Crème Fraiche is made by letting the cream skimmed off the top of milk ferment at a warm temperature.

If made at home (find a good recipe) it is a mixture of butter milk and whipping cream, but I suggest finding a local dairy that produces it and buying it fresh.

You won’t regret it.
